Recital 2025 is almost upon us! Here's a little rundown on how to be most prepared:
The important info:
Rehearsal Dates: June 9th & 10th
These rehearsals are MANDATORY
Each class will have a time slot between 3:30 PM-10:00 PM on rehearsal days
A schedule was sent to you via Remind (check the app or your email).
Make sure your dancer is dressed in their costume and ready to perform (yes, hair and makeup included) 15 minutes before their scheduled time.
Some dancers may have two or more time slots for things like finale, opener, acro, etc. so make sure you know the time slots for each class!
Recital Dates: June 11th & 12th
The big show! Remember to smile!
All dancers must be dressed, with hair and makeup done, by 5:30 PM!
Hair for all performances is low bun with a middle part.
All dancers (except for preschool, kindergarten, and Tuesday I) will perform both nights of recital
Preschool and kindergarten classes will perform Friday only
Tuesday I will perform Thursday only
The show starts at 6:00 PM. Auditorium doors open at 5:30.
Tickets are $24 at the door.
Recital DVD’s, concessions and flowers will be available in the lobby.
Miscellaneous info for the dancers:
Any dancer needing pink ballet, tan tap, tan jazz, or turners will need to get them ordered through the studio for recital
Any dancer needing tights must see their teacher (preferably before their last class)
Some tips for you:
LABEL YOUR COSTUME, COSTUME ACCESSORIES, AND SHOES!!
Print out the recital lineup and highlight the dances you are in. This will make it much easier to keep track of what dance comes next.
Print out a list of all of your costumes, accessories, dance shoes, makeup, and other miscellaneous items you need. Make sure you check off each item before AND after the show so you don't need to worry about missing items.
Keep each of your costumes in a separate bag along with the accessories/jewelry/shoes that go with it. This keeps it more organized when you go to change during the show.
You don't need garment bags. Big Ziploc bags or something similar work just as well
Try to keep your costumes/shoes within your bag/area. When lots of dancers are packed in a dressing room, there is a lot of small pieces that can get mixed up. You don't want to be missing a piece of your costume on the second recital day!
Miscellaneous items you may need:
bobby pins
safety pins
hairspray/hair gel
brush and comb
clear nail polish (to fix runs in tights)
Band-Aids
scissors
after-show outfit (sweats, pjs, studio jacket)
tide "to go" stick
extra tights
deodorant
nail polish remover (someone always forgets to take off their nail polish!)
ibuprofen/acetaminophen
makeup wipes
snacks and water (stay hydrated!)
your smile :)
Of course, the most important thing is that you have fun! You've worked hard and practiced all year, now it's time to watch you shine!
We can't wait to see your performance! MBSD WERK!!
